Guitar & Instrument Repair
A Sound Education is home to Mike Doerr, our dedicated full-time guitar technician. Mike has been providing customers with service they can count on for over 20 years. Whether you're in need of a simple restring or a complex repair, Mike will assure your instrument is playing at its best.
Restrings & Maintenance
Includes cleaning and conditioning the fingerboard when necessary, plus tightening hardware.
Complete Setups
Includes restring, truss rod adjustment, bridge adjustment, setting intonation, balancing pickups, tightening hardware, and a full cleaning and polishing.
Electronics & Wiring
Basic Electronic Repair: Cleaning and inspection of the instrument’s electronic components and connections to help eliminate scratchy controls, noisy switches, intermittent connections, and other common electronic issues.
Pickup Installation: Active pickups requiring complex wiring are subject to additional charges.
Add-Ons & À La Carte Services
- Minor Neck (Truss Rod) Adjustment: $25
- Bridge Height Action & Intonation Adjustment: $25
- Widening Nut Slot: $25
- Filing Fret Ends ("Fret Sprout"): $40
- Tuner Installation (w/ Reaming & Drilling): $50
- Pickguard Swap: $25 for direct swap (additional charges may apply for custom fits)
- Remove Stickers: $25 (done to the best of our ability)
- Strap Button Installation: $10 (each) plus parts
- Strap Locks Installation: $25 (set) plus parts
- Sunken Pickup Adjustment: $25
- Nut Installation: An estimate will be provided for parts and labor required.

If an instrument is being checked in for repair work, we recommend a case or gig bag to store it in.
Band & Orchestra Instruments
Should your band or orchestra instrument be in need of service, we can handle a small adjustment or string replacement. But, if your instrument needs a re-pad or complete overhaul, we have an outside technician who can provide a free estimate before any work is performed. Feel free to email, stop in or give us a call to discuss.
Other Equipment
We do not offer repair services for amplifiers, effects pedals, or pro audio equipment, but are happy to recommend someone!
Warranty Repairs
Should an instrument you purchased from us need service under manufacturer's warranty, we are here to help. We are an authorized service center for Fender, Squier, Gretsch, Charvel, EVH, and Yamaha. Please email with all inquiries.
