Calling all drummers! Do you want to learn a new style of music, challenge your coordination, and improve your ability to play in a group setting? A Sound Education is offering an exciting opportunity to explore the instruments and rhythms of Latin music with percussion instructor Wally Pochron. Classes will take place upstairs in the large lesson room and will culminate in a performance at the Student Showcase at The Stadium Club.

What You Will Learn:

Participants will gain hands-on experience with Latin percussion and ensemble playing, including:

Introduction to Afro-Cuban rhythms and traditional percussion instruments.
Developing coordination and rhythmic independence.
Learning how to perform in a group setting with multiple percussion parts.
Building confidence through live performance at the Student Showcase.

What to Bring:

Please bring drumsticks and a willingness to learn. Instruments will be provided.

Meet The Instructor:

Wally Pochron has traveled to Cuba three times to study Afro-Cuban percussion with master musicians Jose Eladio Amat and Alejandro Carvajal Guerra. He has also studied and performed with percussionist, author, and clinician Don Skoog. Wally was a member of the Millikin University Latin Jazz Project, which has recorded multiple CDs and performed at the Jazz Education Network Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Havana International Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba.
