Description

Hitting the market in the early 2000's (right after Fender took over construction of Gretsch guitars), the Gretsch G6131MY Malcom Young II was the earliest signature guitar for the stalwart AC/DC rhythm axeman. Don't let the "II" in the name fool ya, that means that it's got 2 pickups, unlike Malcom Young's own vintage Jet guitar. In fact, this guitar has many upgraded and modern design appointments to better suit a wide variety of sounds. The switches work as so: Neck, Middle, Bridge. The second switch has a set of capacitors to shape the top end. All the way down, towards the strings, is the "half-dark" cap sound. A smoothed top end for a warmer sound. Middle is true bypass, no interference, bright as can be. The up position gives a super dark, Jazzzmaster rhythm circuit-esque sound.

This guitar weighs 6LBS 11oz. Holy cow!

The flamed maple top is extremely vibrant on this particular instrument. The body and neck are mahogany, and the chambered body allows for this guitar to feel feather-light. This guitar plays like a dream, is extremely responsive, and is capable of much more than straight ahead rawk.

The frets are in very good shape, there is only a little bit of wear on the Zero fret as pictured. There's some light buckle rash on the back. There is some small scratching on the face of the headstock. There is a small ding on the back of the headstock. There is some tarnishing on the the wrap-tailpiece adjustment screws. Somebody tried to get in there with a flathead screwdriver. Doesn't affect playability or the bridge's function. Comes with the original case and paperwork.
